A number of owners and archive collections offered original paintings and prints for this unique exhibition of one of the world's foremost botanical artists of the last century.
Multiple RHS Grenfell Gold medal winner Barbara Everard, was an outstanding illustrator of botanical field guides and coffee-table publications. Her 2,000 or so incredibly detailed and beautiful painted plant studies, are to be found in collections such as the archives of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, as well as those of private collectors and family members around the world. Examples of her skill and craftsmanship can be found on the pages of this website but none do justice to the vibrancy of colour and accuracy of drawing and painting as when seen in real life.
Many of Barbara’s original paintings were on public display for the first and possibly last time.
There was also on display some of her landscapes, both oil and watercolour as well as other artefacts associated with her forty year career. Copies of her memoirs, Call Them The Happy Years, were also on sale or order. There is an extract on a page on this website.
Soon, many of the prints that were on sale will be available through the For Sale page, payable by secure credit and debit card. In the meantime, cheques are always acceptable.
